New rewilding roadshow dates unveiled to spark community action
Climate Action North has announced new dates for its Rewilding Roadshow, designed to inspire and empower communities across the North of England to take action for nature right where they live. These stops are part of the ongoing effort to grow the North East Rewilding Network (NERN) and support community-led rewilding initiatives.
Two of the events will take place at the Metrocentre Community Hub, on Saturday 30 August and Sunday 26 October, both from 10am to 3pm. Climate Action North will also bring the Rewilding Roadshow to the Festival of Thrift in Stockton on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September.
Each stop is a chance for visitors to explore how they can bring nature back to life in their own gardens, parks, streets, and community spaces. With practical advice, hands-on activities, and real-life stories from local rewilders, the roadshow aims to spark ideas, build confidence, and connect people who want to make a difference for wildlife and the climate right where they live.
Sharon Lashley, CEO at Climate Action North, said: “Community is at the heart of rewilding. These roadshow events provide a space for people to come together, share ideas, and find simple ways to make a difference in their own neighbourhoods, whether that’s rewilding a garden, creating wildlife-friendly spaces, or meeting one of the many amazing rewilders across the North of England.”
At the Metrocentre events, visitors will meet a wide range of exhibitors from the North East Rewilding Network who will showcase their work. Confirmed participants include Bees of Bensham/Dingy Butterflies, The Sea We See (CIC), Durham Wildlife Trust, Wilder Northumberland Network, The Conservation Volunteers, The Missing Lynx, RHI National Education Nature Park, and Randoms Retreat.
Meanwhile, at the Festival of Thrift, the roadshow will spotlight the North East Rewilding Network and highlight two exciting initiatives: the Marine Rewilding Network dedicated to restoring ocean and coastal habitats, and the Young Rewilders Networking Group (YOUNG), which empowers the next generation of nature champions.
All events are free and open to everyone, whether already involved in nature work or just curious about community rewilding and how to make a difference.
They are proudly sponsored by the Rewilding Britain Innovation Fund, which supports rewilding projects throughout the UK.
