Companies of all types and sizes are being called upon to tackle their emissions and commit to net zero.

Taking action to become net zero will bring many benefits to a small business including improving resilience and competitiveness, while reducing costs and encouraging investment and attracting new customers.

A networking event for small businesses to access practical support on achieving net zero took place on Tuesday 29 November 2022. Small businesses from all sectors wanting to learn more about net zero and how to achieve it, attended a morning event organised by social enterprise Climate Acton North.

The Climate Action North Business Action Toolkit is a fully automated and professional web-based portal designed by Duco Digital to assist organisations to identify risks relevant to small businesses and build resilience to safeguard its future. It will also help businesses begin to take meaningful climate action to get on the road to net zero.

Climate Action North has secured a contract to drive forward decarbonisation plans at the North East BIC in Sunderland and set them firmly on the road to achieving Net Zero.

The Business Action Toolkit can be used by businesses in any location and is specifically aimed at small to medium-sized enterprises, which account for 99.9 percent of the UK business population.

The award-winning social enterprise has pledged to help the region’s companies take climate action after joining the North East England Chamber of Commerce.
